30th June 2011

The book relating to Michael’s one-man show Sweet William should, barring any hiccups, be published in January 2012.

6th June 2011

The final date for The Syndicate tour  is the Theatre Royal Bath for the week 5th-10th September. You can find all of the links for the various venues by clicking on the above link.

8th May 2011

Another date for The Syndicate. It’ll be at The Cambridge Arts Theatre from the 29th August to the 3rd September. Box Office 01223 503333 or book online at: http://www.cambridgeartstheatre.com. That leaves the 5th-10th September blank - so if anyone knows where it will be performed during that period please let me know!

3rd May 2011

On Thursday 12th May as part of the British Academy Literature Week there is going to be a panel discussion regarding biography on the stage and Michael will be taking part discussing the differences, from an actor’s viewpoint, between playing ‘real’ and fictional characters on the stage. Tickets are free, but you must register , so check out the British Academy web site for further details.

Back in 1991 Radio 4 broadcast a play based on Peter Luke’s play The Other Side of the Hill which follows the Duke of Wellington and the men and women of his Iberian peninsular campaign between 1808 and 1813. Michael starred in the play as Wellington and BBC Radio 4 Extra are repeating it over 2 parts the first being next Saturday at 4pm and 4am. I expect the next episode will be the following week.

15th April 2011

On Thursday 21st April on BBC Radio 4 at 11.30am there is a programme entitled The Ladies’ Man of Opera in which Michael explores the music and letters of Richard Strauss.

3rd April 2011

The next edition of The RSC Shakespeare edited by Jonathan Bate and Eric Rasmusson is going to be Titus Andronicus and Timon of Athens. Due for publication on the 1st August  it  includes an interview with Michael.

18th March 2011

Another date to add to The Syndicate tour: Malvern Theatre 23rd-27th August. Book online at: http://www.malvern-tickets.co.uk or phone 01684 892277.

16th March 2011

It appears that The Syndicate is doing a bit of a tour. The production is at  the Milton Keynes Theatre from the 12th-17th September. Details are on:  http://www.ambassadortickets.com/2479/657/Milton-Keynes/Milton-Keynes-Theatre/The-Syndicate-Tickets

10th March 2011

In an e-mail I’ve received today from the Chichester Festival theatre they say that tickets for The Syndicate are selling fast and, indeed some performances are already sold out. So if you haven’t booked already and are considering going, I suggest  you don’t hang about for too long!

17th February 2011

Michael will be appearing at the Chichester Festival Theatre again this year in a play entitled The Syndicate by Eduardo de Filippo. Performances are from the 21st July to the 20th August. Friends of the theatre can buy tickets (limited to two per customer) from today - I’m not sure when non-members can purchase, but it’s probably the end of next week.

12th February

Michael has just finished filming his part in the new film The Iron Lady in which Meryl Streep will play Margaret Thatcher. Michael is Michael Foot.

26th January 2011

I’ve had a couple of e-mails letting me know that I missed a radio programme that Michael was in last Monday! It was Night Waves on Radio 3 and was a discussion on Chekhov. It’s still on Iplayer for a couple of days yet and you can listen to it on:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00xnbjt . Michael’s section starts about 20 minutes in.

2nd January 2011

First piece of news for 2011 is, I’m afraid, a bit late as I’ve just spotted that Michael is reading in a programme tonight on BBC Radio 3 at 10.30. It’s entitled Words and Music - Mozart an Inspiration. If you don’t read this in time I’m sure you’ll be able to catch up with it on BBCiplayer.
